Coronavirus and schools closure information for parents / carers

Following the Government’s announcement, East Riding of Yorkshire Council would like to reiterate that schools, colleges and childcare providers will be closed for the vast majority of children until further notice.

Many parents working in critical sectors may be able to ensure their child is kept at home. Every child who can be safely cared for at home, should be.

The Department for Education is asking schools, colleges, nurseries, childminders and other registered childcare settings to offer provision, where they can, for children of critical workers and vulnerable children. You may have already been contacted by your child’s school. If this is not the case please look at their website.

This is an offer to parents and carers who are critical workers or have vulnerable children. There is no requirement for parents and carers to send children to school if you do not need or wish to do so.

Information for Parent/Carers

This is a challenging time for all families and establishments.

We are still awaiting guidance from our Local Authority following the news yesterday teatime by the government. We will update everyone as soon as we have a clearer picture what we need to do as we have not been told anything ourselves yet unfortunately and we have lots of questions as I am sure you will appreciate.

In the meantime, please keep homework books at home as we have put some more tasks on the school website to do at home if needed. We are also putting packs together so that children will have some Maths and English booklets to do at home linked to their year group expectations. There is also a link on the school website of useful websites children can go on to do activities if needed. There won't unfortunately be facility for live streaming of lessons in our school for children to log into.

At the moment the best way of making contact to the school is either by phone, text or by e mailing. These messages or e mails can be passed to relevant staff.

kind regards

Share yoga and mindfulness resources with parents

This is likely to be a stressful time for families with everyone cooped up at home. Looking after our mental wellbeing is now more important than ever, that's why we've made all our Yoga and Mindfulness resources available as a free download.

Striver lessons are written for the non-specialist, therefore able to share resources with parents. Yoga and Mindfulness sessions are a great activity for families to do together and to help reduce stress and anxiety.

WELCOME

Hornsea Burton Primary School is in the heart of the seaside town of Hornsea, situated on the East coast. Our school mission statement is to have 'a special place to learn and succeed.' Everyone, staff, governors and parents are working hard to ensure it is happy, welcoming, positive place to be. We set ourselves the highest expectations to establish a high quality learning experience.
